Senate candidate Meek called a 'regular guy' TCPalm
VERO BEACH — U.S. Senate candidate Kendrick Meek wrapped up his statewide “Jobs For Florida” road tour at the northern end of the Treasure Coast Friday.
For four days, the South Florida Democrat traveled from Tallahassee to Tampa to St. Lucie and Indian River counties and spoke to middle-class Floridians about his vision for creating jobs across this state and building a strong and sustainable Florida economy.
In Gainesville, he conducted a jobs roundtable with college students and graduates. In Fort Pierce on Tuesday, he met with trainees and staff of a green collar jobs training facility.
The Miami congressman, who has a taste for steak houses and cigars, serves on a powerful tax-writing House committee. He has flown on Air Force One and recently was spotted getting a pedicure at a Washington salon.
But in an anti-incumbent election year, Meek is emphasizing other parts of his resume: his working-class roots, love of fishing and hunting, even his dyslexia.
