I had to apply for a personal, unsecured loan a few weeks ago, to cover the gap (loss) from my house sale. Unfortunately, Chase Bank told me they do not currently have ANY unsecured personal loan products... The only thing they had was a "secured deposit" loan, where if I had the $12.5k I was looking for in deposits, I could take a loan out against it... In other words, I'd be loaning money to myself, but paying Chase interest!! Yeah...that made sense... Wonder how many people actually do this...

Anyways, I ended up going to Lending Club, and got a loan without any hassle at all. One thing I recommend, though, is to remember the origination fee (I didn't!), and to increase your loan amount by that much IF you need to. I'm having to come up with cash on closing, becuase I didn't figure that amount taken out of the $12.5k loan I applied for. Oops!

Overall, it went pretty well, though. Just remember to watch out for the Bank's "secured" options, because a "secured deposit loan" sounds like a major rip-off.
