The sun was beating down on the Carlisle Fairgrounds on Friday, but the tough economy was casting a shadow on some of those attending the Spring Carlisle Collector Car Swap Meet & Corral.
Thousands strolled through the metal maze of cars and auto parts, but even all the bright chrome couldn’t outshine some worries.
“We’re only looking to buy $5 to $10 items,” Lay said.
A decade ago, Lay, who works for Daily Express trucking, had money to finish his deck and basement.
“Those opportunities aren’t there anymore,” said Lay, 42, of West Pennsboro Township. “That money has to go to bills. Everything is going up, except for our incomes.”
